Women with medals

The San Leandro Sports Foundation had a great 2012, our membership is growing and we are stronger then ever. We look forward to 2013 and to the challenges and opportunities the new year brings to support health and fitness in our community.

The SLSF held three successful fundraisers: Celebrate Burrell Field – The Final Game, Run-For-The-Schools 5K and our Annual Spaghetti Feed. The November election brought much hope for public education in California when State Prop 30 passed, and in a real nail-bitter, local Measure L was approved by the voters of San Leandro with a heroic 66.75%. Construction on the Measure M marquee projects at Pacific Sports Complex/Burrell Field and the High School swimming pool and fields began in the summer and are progressing nicely. These voter approved measures should ensure that our public schools continue to provide our children and community with a quality educational envirnoment. The momentum has shifted in our favor. We can safely take a look behind us, but our challenge is to keep moving forward.
