The June Athletes of the Month are San Leandro High School Track and Field Boys Varsity 4×100 and 4×400 teams. The teams preformed the extraordinary feat of qualifying for the State Finals in both relays. This is an exceptional accomplishment and a historic one as well, for no other Hayward Area Athletic League (HAAL) school has ever qualified for the two relays in the same year. Just making it to the state meet is a grueling process. Athletes must compete against the very best in their league, their region, their section, and the state prelims to reach the Finals. Along the way, the teams set school records of 41.83 in the 4×100 and 3.18. 31 in the 4 x400.
