Today at 4:00 the Varsity Baseball Team plays Piedmont HS for the league playoff championship. The game will be played at San Leandro Ballpark. The team earned a spot in today’s game by beating San Lorenzo 6-1 Tues night. Piedmont beat Mt Eden 2-1 in 12 innings to advance to this showdown. This will be the 3rd meeting of the 2 teams this year. We swept the season series winning 5-1 and 5-3 in 2 well played games. Our overall record is now 20-5 while Piedmont is 16-9.
After our game, the Foothill division championship will be played between Bishop O’Dowd and Alameda.
In between games we will be honoring the 1st and 2nd team all league players from both divisions. 7 of our Pirate boys were selected by the league coaches. Senior 1st baseman Andy Ruano was selected to the 2nd team and our 1st team selections were senior Daniel Dodson (Inf), juniors Kevin Nava (pitcher), Jake Ruiz (catcher), Marcus Marquez (Inf), Isaias Montenegro (Inf) and sophmore Michael Hidalgo (outfield). Junior pitcher Kevin Nava was also selected as the league”Player of the Year”
