Nijae Jones 800 meter specialist
Nijae Jones a senior at San Leandro High School and member of the Pirates Track and Field Team has been named Girls Athlete of the Week by the Bay Area News Group.
The Cal-Bound Jones won the 800 at the North Coast Section Meet of Champions with a time of 2 minutes, 11.221 seconds, third-best time in the state for the event leading into the state meet this weekend. Jones also ran the third leg for San Leandro’s victorious 400 relay team (47.28).
