Rikari Davis takes the handoff on F/S 4×100

On Thursday, the San Leandro High School Track and Field team traveled to Chabot  College to face the re-building Hayward High team and can came away with several impressive performances. In the Varsity Boys match Stephen Johnson won the 100 meters in 10.99 FAT, Courtney Bazile won both the 110HH and the 300IH, Ruben Baker won the 400 meters and Christian Carter won the 200 in a very respectable 22.04. Hyakub Herring (The Big Easy) won the triple jump with a Personal best of 41’5″. In Varsity girls competition Gabby Cantrell easily won her specialty, the 100 meters, and Nijae Jones cruised to a win in the 1600 meters and anchored the winning 4×400 team.

In Frosh/Soph competition Rikari Davis and Anthony Pierce were double winners in their event, the 110HH and 300IH and the 100m and 200m respectively.

On Saturday, the Pirates traveled across the bay to the Serra Top 7 Invitational. Against stiff competition (and wind) the Pirates had several outstanding performances. The Lady Pirates were lead by Kortni Symers-Jones who won the 100HH and the long jump. Gabby Cantrell won the 100 meters. Nijea Jones won the 800 meters by a wide margin.  Stephen Johnson had an impressive dash in the 100m, coming in 2nd place. The men’s 4×400, with Johnson running a strong 3rd leg and Christian Carter running his standard 48s, placed 1st  with  a fine time of 3:26.23.
