Subject: SLHS Baseball LEAGUE CHAMPIONS
Hello to all Pirate Baseball supporters,
When we started our weight training program in September, we talked a lot about individual goals and team goals. The coaching staff and the players all agreed that our team goal was to win a league championship, hang a banner in the gym and move on to the NCS Playoffs.
This past Tuesday night we beat Piedmont HS 5-1 at San Leandro Ballpark to clinch the league championship. The celebration afterward and the smiles on their faces are something I will always remember. We then beat Piedmont again yesterday in a thriller, scoring 1 in the 6th and 2 in the 7th to win 5-3. Our league record is now 13-1 and overall we are 18-4. We have 2 more league games next week, the WACC playoffs the following week and then on to NCS
The only thing missing when we clinched was not having Coach Castro there. The boys gave him an excused absence so he could go watch his son Jason play at Fenway Park and Yankee Stadium. I guess we can accept that.
Thanks again for all your support
Mike
