The San Leandro Sports Foundation’s Sports Hall of Fame
The SLSF’S Sports Hall of Fame is a fundraiser for our Schools’ sports and health and fitness programs. Our goal is to support the programs and recognized the athletes of all sports who began their journey through San Leandro Schools. This is an ambitious project and we need your help. We are seeking event sponsors to help underwrite the event.
San Leandro has a rich tradition of sports. The SLSF’S Sports Hall of Fame was created in 2016 as a way of maintaining the rich heritage and tradition of the successful athletes and athletic programs in the City of San Leandro. San Leandro has an abundance of individuals who have made extraordinary contributions and have superb accomplishments in the world of sports. The SLSF Hall of Fame seeks to honor these individuals and their accomplishments and insure that future generations of aspiring athletes have these same opportunities.
Nominees to the SLSF’S Sports Hall of Fame must exemplify the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and moral character. All candidates are judged on their significant and/or long term contributions to athletic endeavors. In addition, as much as possible, acknowledged leadership in his/her chosen field or community, state, and national presence will be considered. These individuals are true role models for today’s youth.
The San Leandro Sports Foundation (SLSF) was founded in 2009 as a non-profit corporation with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status (Fed. I.D. # 26-3679203). The primary mission of the SLSF is to support sports and health and fitness programs in the San Leandro Unified School District. The SLSF fundraising events are large, family oriented events like our a 5K Fun Run and Fitness Festival, Spaghetti Feed and Ice Cream Social, Celebrate Burrell Field – The Last Game and our annual Citywide Youth Track and Field Meet.
