Gabrielle Cantrell has been a sprinting sensation all year. At last weekends at the WACC Championships Gabby ran the anchor leg of the victorious Girls 4 x 100 that timed 47.05 – the 6th fastest time the State this year, she also won the 100 and 200 meters and ran the opening leg of the victorious 4 x 400 with an outrageous split of 54.55. Four wins, one very impressive young lady. She certainly deserved to be honored as Female Athlete of the Meet.
Gabby’s other accomplishments this season include big wins at two of the most prestigious high school track and field meets in the State. She won both the 100 and 200 at the Sacramento Meet of Champions, and the 200 at the Mt SAC Relays. She currently has the 5th fastest time in 100 meters in the State with a 11.76, the 3rd fastest time in the 200 in the State with 23.97 and is a member of the 4×100 that is ranked 6th in State.
You can see Gabby run this Saturday at the NCS Regional Meet (Bayshore) at Castro Valley starting at 12:00. The Best of 3 leagues will gather to determine the top 7 finishers in each event who will more onto the NCS Meet of Champions in held at CAL Berkeley on May 25th.
