A unique opportunity awaits us. In my opinion our girls have a legitimate shot at WINNING STATE MEET GIRLS TITLE this year. This only happens maybe once in a life time.
We have 2 medalist from last year’s state meet returning, and running well. The additional of Gabriella Cantrell (who currently a State leader in both the 60M and the 200M indoors ) make this even more of a possibility.
We expect both returners Nijae Jones and Kortni Smyers-Jones to place high at State this year. Right now Gabby is a good bet score both sprint races. If each runner places just 3rd in their races that would be 24 points – making us a definite contender. We just need to score points in both the 4×100 and 4×400 relays. A couple of solid relay squads and the championship could be ours.
We desperately need an additional girl or two to add to this group. We are trying to identify a couple of speedy young ladies who can support our prove State meet qualifiers. We have Camille Watson coming from last year’s NCS Regional qualifiers, but we still 1-2 more are needed quality runners. I know there must some talent walking the campus that maybe need a little encouragement to join the track squad.
Let’s grab the golden ring! This is once in a lifetime possibility well within SL’s grasp!
And by the way our Boys squad will also be “top flight” this year – just as last year
