Pirate 1500 meter men make CV work.

March 28, 2013. The San Leandro Track & Field team took to the road thursday for a dual meet against rival Castro Valley High School. This was the first meet of the year and for many of our athletes their very first meet ever. It was a beautiful spring day and a prefect day to run, jump and throw.

In the frosh/soph meet several excellent performances where turned in by the boys. Freshman Anthony Pierce won the 100 and 200 meter races by convincing margins. Rikari Davis won both hurdle races, actually placing first against varsity runners in the High Hurdles. Devon Simmons, running in his first meet of the year, was 2nd in both hurdle races.

In the man’s varsity division, Courtney Bazile won the 300 IH race by a wide margin. Stephen Johnson, fresh from the championship basketball team, exploded out of the blocks to a big lead, but for a lack of sprint conditioning was caught in the last 10 meters by a very fast CV 100 meter man. In the woman’s varsity division, Gabby Cantrella won her 200 meter race without any drama and CAL bound Nijae Jones lead all the way to take the 800 meter race.

Next up for Pirate track – The Stanford Invitational.
